Community Development Grants 2010
The Tolka Area Partnership (formally Finglas Cabra Partnership) was established in 1991 to counter disadvantage and promote equality and social and economic inclusion locally.
The Partnership has secured a small fund through the Local and Community Development Programme (LCDP) to support volunteer led community development actions.
We are now inviting applications from groups working in the areas of poverty, disadvantage or social inclusion for projects that will involve members of LCDP target groups. For example, disadvantaged communities, lone parents, people with disabilities, disadvantaged youth (a full list is available on the application form).
In 2010 the grant fund will be split into two specific themes:
Promoting and supporting the participation of people living with disabilities into the wider social, cultural and economic life of the community. This grant is open to any group that wishes to promote the participation of people with disabilities into wider community activities or in their own group activities.
Small scale projects that promote community development type activities at a local level and build community capacity and links within the community and outward to statutory agencies. Examples include: estate cleanups, neighbourhood renewal, community arts projects etc.
Click here for further information and an application form.
Grant amount: As a general guideline the maximum grant is €1,198. In exceptional circumstances the grant appraisal committee can approve grants up to €2,000 .
Closing date for receipt of completed application forms is Friday the 27th of August 2010.

Tolka Area Partnership Social Inclusion Panel seeks New Members
Tolka Area Partnership (TAP) is a Local Area Partnership that was established in 1991 by the Irish Government to tackle long-term unemployment and social exclusion.
The Partnership is governed by a Board of Directors made up of local community, employer, union, statutory and elected representatives.
To facilitate community participation on the Partnership’s decision making structures a new process has been devised for the appointment of Community Directors to the Board.
There are eight Community Directors positions on the Board. These positions are split in the following way:
Four Director positions for geographic representatives, one each from Finglas, Cabra, Botanic/Glasnevin, Ashtown/Navan Road (Geographic Directors)
Four Director positions for socially excluded groups (Social Inclusion Directors)
The rational behind this decision is to ensure equal access to the Board for representatives from specific areas and from communities that have traditionally been excluded from decision making structures.
To ensure effective representation from socially excluded groups Tolka Area Partnership has established a ‘Social Inclusion Panel’. The panel is comprised community based groups and organisations that can advocate on behalf of the named target groups under the National Development Plan.
The panel is responsible for nominating the four Social Inclusion Directors to the Board of Tolka Area Partnership. It meets on a quarterly basis and acts as an advisory council to the Board and sub committees of the Partnership.
